Here?s a fact you can?t ignore:? 8 out of 100 men over the age of 50 will have their lives affected by prostate cancer, and three of those eight will die from the disease.
To better educate the public, healthcare professionals will be providing the latest information on prostate cancer on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 8 a.m. -3 p.m. at the campus of Wayne State University in Detroit.
The Prostate Cancer Symposium, presented by the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and Prostate Net, is designed to share what prostate cancer is, what can be done to prevent it, as well as the current treatments and latest research. Included is a Q & A session with prostate cancer experts and patients. Whether you are a patient, family member, survivor, advocate or medical professional, this is a great opportunity to get a better understanding of the second most common cancer in men (second to skin cancer).
Experts appearing and speaking at the Symposium include, Course Chair Elisabeth Heath M.D, keynote speaker Jean Bonhomme, M.D., MPH (co-founder, manager and president of the National Black Men?s Health Network) and Isaac Powell, M.D.
Registration is free but attendance is limited and must be confirmed. Register at http://www.prostate-online.com/2011registration.pdf or call 888-477-6763.
The Symposium will be at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Margherio Family Conference Center, Room 141 MEC, 320 E. Canfield, Detroit. Parking is complimentary and breakfast and lunch will be provided.
