Confidence among small-business owners is creeping slowly up and more are paying higher compensation, says a report released Tuesday.
The National Federation of Independent Business?s small-business optimism index increased 2.3 points to 94.4 in May.
?This is the second-highest reading since the recession started (95.1 is the highest) and the best reading since May of last year,? the report said.
The report showed small-business owners expect improvement in the next six months.
