Streaming audio and video content to the internet is a daily occurrence. Ask yourself: How often do I get online to access audio and video content? ?The answer is usually a lot more frequently than you think. ?Keeping your audience and clients in touch with the latest business meeting, sermon, performance or content offering is key to successful communication. ?In a world that is more often brought together by the use of internet communication, being able to get content onto the internet becomes more a necessity and less a?luxury. ?However as you begin the journey into the world of internet streaming several questions will continue to come up. ?What is steaming? ?How does it work? How can it work for you? In this latest Tech Tips we will try and answer some of these questions for you.
What is streaming? ?The simple answer is any audio or visual content made?available?to an audience through any internet-connected web browser. ?Computer streaming has been around since 1995 but overcoming limitations of computers and delivery systems has only recently made streaming financially viable for most users.
How does streaming work? ?There are two basic types of streaming: Live streaming and On Demand streaming.? Live streaming, as it sounds, is content that is broadcast to the internet as it is happening.? Because it is happening in real-time the viewer has no control of the stream. ?Also, unless it is being recorded the content will be available one time, much like live television. ?The more popular type of streaming is On Demand streaming where the content is loaded onto a server, either an in-house or through a streaming service, like what is offered at LIVE! Technologies. ?After the content is uploaded onto a server those wishing to watch the program can go to a provided web-link and watch it at any time with the ability to start, stop and pause the program, much like On Demand programming offered by many cable providers.
How can this work for you? ?LIVE! Technologies has a few streaming solutions for our clients. ?Our System Integration division also offers custom streaming solutions. ?We have a package that incorporates an Apple iMac quad-core computer, capture device and software?with included installation and training.? Bandwidth is handled by industry leader Akamai so there are no concerns about delivery. ?For a personalized look, our Creative Services department can build a branded webpage that will give everything a unique look. ?Storage and On Demand streaming is also available.
Video streaming has developed rapidly in the last 18 years, from basic audio and rudimentary video in its infancy to full HD-quality that is currently available. ?LIVE! Technologies has made sure that its own technology and system offerings have grown as outside technologies have improved. ?As your company?s audience grows LIVE! Technologies offers many solutions to the challenge of bringing them together.
