If you're going to build an MP3 player directly into earphones, those earphones better sound excellent, or the product is flawed in concept. Sony's latest W Series Walkman is a product built on this very premise: The $59.99 (direct) NWZ-W262 is arguably a better pair of earphones than it is a player. At this price, sound this good and fit this secure are rarities?to have 2GB of storage for music files only sweetens the deal. Water and sweat-resistant, the all-in-one NWZ-W262 can be a minor pain to operate?since you can't see the controls while wearing it?but after memorizing the button placement, this ceases to be an issue. The NWZ-W262 is a stronger, better-sounding MP3 player than Apple's iPod shuffle ($49, 3.5 stars), and it wins our Editors' Choice for budget-price gym-friendly players.

Design
The Sony W Series W262 weighs 1.2 ounces and features a simple, wearable design. It's not for everyone, but chances are, if you're looking for a workout MP3 player, it'll fit your needs well. The player is built into two earpieces, both black plastic emblazoned with the Walkman "W" logo on the outer panels. The lower panels on the right ear house the Play/Pause and Track Forward/Backward buttons. A snap-open compartment protects the micro USB connection when it's not in use. On the inside of the right earpiece, there's a Power On/Off switch. The left earpiece houses the Volume and Playlist/Shuffle controls and the earphones themselves are in-canal, not flat earbuds, which means they create a seal. This, combined with the over-the-ear cable design, creates a very secure fit and strong bass response. The cable, which is hardwired to the earphones, is fairly rigid and thicker than most earphone cables; it goes around the back of your head and offers very little slack so it won't get tangled.

The NWZ-W262 ships with a holster that holds both earpieces so the player can be easily stored, as well as?three pairs of black rubber-silicon eartips in different sizes and?a USB-to-micro USB sync cable for charging and file transfer. It only holds 2GB of music?not a whole lot. A 4GB version of the W Series Walkman, the NWZ-W263, is also available for $79.99.

Performance and Conclusions
There's no real user interface to discuss here?this is a simple device. It connects to your computer?Mac or PC?via USB. You can simply drag and drop files onto its icon on your desktop, or use a music file-management program like Windows Media Player if you wish to load playlists or sync with a library. iTunes is not an option, obviously, but even with Windows being the preferred operating system for the NWZ-W262, I had no issue dragging and dropping files out of iTunes and onto the player on my Apple MacBook.?

The most annoying aspect of the NWZ-W262, despite the simplicity of the design and its functions, is that you can't see the buttons on the left and right earpieces while you're wearing the player, so controlling it requires some trial and error. I won't go into the nuances of controlling the device here, but a simple rule will give you the basic idea: For volume controls, use the left earpiece and for Playback controls, use the right earpiece. Once you have a handle on how to skip tracks, navigation is pretty straightforward. You can also choose to shuffle your tracks with the tap of a button. Like the iPod shuffle, you'll hear a robotic female voice tell you what navigational choices you've made (like "All" or "Shuffle"), but the voice is fairly limited in the information it provides.

There's also a feature called Zappin, which can best be described as an audition for your music. You hold down the Play button for an extended period and your music will play in either 4 second or 15 second snippets depending on how long you hold down the button. The songs play sequentially, and once you hear a track you want to listen to, just tap the Playback button quickly to switch out of Zappin mode and listen to the song. It's not a game-changing feature, but useful in the absence of a screen.

Aside from the secure-fit and water-resistant design, the reason the NWZ-W262 is such a steal at this price is its audio performance. Simply put, earphones that sound this good often cost about this much, if not more. They do not distort on deep bass, even at maximum volume, and the general clarity of the earphones in the mids and highs is matched by a strong, though not overpowering, bass response. Basically, as an earphone pair alone, the NWZ-W262 is worth its price. The added features make it an exceedingly good deal for anyone who wants a great workout MP3 player.

The NWZ-W262 charges fairly quickly?only a few minutes of charging will net you about an hour's worth of battery life. (That's one advantage of having no screen.) Sony rates the NWZ-W262's battery life at about 8 hours on a full charge.

The realm of sub-$100 MP3 and portable media players is thin on quality and thinner on features. Besides the NWZ-W262, the?SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip ($49.99, 4 stars) is a very good budget player. If you want more storage?4GB or 8GB?or you must have a screen, it's your best current budget option. The iPod shuffle features a similar-but-more-helpful robot voice that tells you what tracks or playlists you're listening to. Unfortunately, the included earbuds are dreadful, so it's hard to make an argument for it over the NWZ-W262, which sounds better than its price and only costs about $10 more than the shuffle. If you're married to iTunes and really want a player with a screen, the Apple iPod nano ($129, 3 stars) is tiny with more storage, but it's far more expensive than the other options discussed here. If you're looking for a budget MP3 player that can handle the movement?and sweat?of your workout, Sony's W Series Walkman is the best thing out there in terms of design, and the great earphones increase its value so much, it's hard to recommend another player for the gym.

The EnGenius Dual Band Concurrent AP Router (ESR7750) is a dual-band router and access point that offers decent hardware features but only humdrum performance. Dual CPUs and wireless access control are impressive, but the routers interface seems dated?and so does its performance. What would have been a powerful router two or three years ago isn?t so impressive against modern dual-band heavyweights from the likes of Netgear, Cisco/Linksys and Belkin. Still, for under 100 dollars, the Engenius ESR7750 is a good deal for home networks without huge throughput demands.

Specs
The EnGenius ESR7750 features Ralink chipsets. Internal antennas are embedded on the left and right ends of the router. In fact, with the test unit shipped to me, was a note stating that optimal performance is attained by standing the router on the front end?although I did not see performance improvement when testing it that position versus placing it flat on its bottom.

This simultaneous dual-band router has an LED in top of its housing for viewing WPS, power, client connectivity, and radio statuses. The power LED is counterintuitively orange-red by default. I find it annoying when red or orange indicators are used on networking equipment for anything other than errors or problems.? Also, there is no Gigabit Ethernet for the LAN ports. This would be annoying for any router, but it?s especially so in a dual-band router, which is more likely to be purchased by users with more demanding networking needs, including fast wired connections.?

Setup
The router ships with a Smart Wizard CD that gives detailed step-by-step instructions on how to configure the machine used to set up the router and how to connect the cables. One feature of note is the inclusion of security setup during initial install?something lacking in Engenius' otherwise very good, ESR9855G single-band? router. I like security configuration bundled in with the initial install process, because too many neglect to add security to routers after setup. Present security levels range from "Lowest," for none to "Highest," which is WPA2. Setup also walks users through accepting or changing the default SSID and passphrase (if security is enabled).

These setup steps are performed for both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands.? An on-screen click to reboot and apply settings is required?many newer routers can accept changes without needing a reboot, though.

Before the war, things were different. Hell, back then, we were just making our daily living, doing our jobs, drawing our paychecks, and stabbing our fellow men and women in the back. We had no idea how bad things would get. We were fat and happy like maggots on a dead animal. There was enough sporadic violence-rebellions and revolutions and balky colonial governments-to keep the military going, but not enough to really threaten the lifestyles we had grown accustomed to. We were, in retrospect, fat and sassy.
And if a real war broke out, well, it was the military's worry. The marines' worry. Not ours.

"Get down the line!" A voice yelled. Whom it belonged was hard to tell, with the explosions in the night sky leaving soldiers blind.

Were it not for the mangled corpse falling flat infront of him, upper torso violently removed by shrapnel, Merrik Klains, soldier for the Kelgan Confederacy, would have sat right in his hole till the battle was over and the enemy had won. Scared, alone and drugged up with stimpacks, the soldier grabbed his rifle and pulled himself from the hole. Gauss spikes whizzed over head. Around him, men and women cried out, death slowly consuming them. Soon they would be silenced, whether it be the cold embrace of death, or the hard hit of stimulants hitting thier bloodstreams. Sprinting, Merrik's own slugthrower pulled to his chest, the last of the stimpacks did thier job. Fear no longer found itself in the pages of his mind. Emotions vanished as if stars of a magic trick. The only thing left were his orders. Get down the line, kill all enemies.

There was a prick in the back of his neck as a needle shot him up with another stimulant pack. With that last stimulant, killing became as easy as breathing for the young vetran. Merrik pulled himself up, his practiced hands already racking a bullet into the chamber of the MG-782. The hydraulic system in the gun whinned loudly before there came a spray of bullets.

The carnage of war is not something to take lightly. Throughout the course of history, both the old times and now, grotesque things have always happened. One such thing happened when Merrik J. Klains lined up the first man before the onslaught of bullets came forth. Words cannot trully describe the violence that happened to the poor bastard caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Enemy Arkarian soldiers all on the front lines stopped mid-stride to look at the lump of remains that layed were thier comrade once stood. And before even the next step was taken by any man, ally or enemy, a massacre was on the hands of Merrik Klains. Taking an old quote 'They were dead before thier bodies hit the floor.' Dozens dropped left and right. He heard cheers coming behind him as his allies charged forward. Where it not for the stray bullet of a private still learning how to conrol his weapon, Merrik's killing would have been the turning point of the battle.

Armor from his right leg ripped away with ease as the high caliber spike ran through. Pain racked, Merrik's body. The soldier felt none of it, however, so drugged up on stim-packs it was suprising the man had not died of OD, something that contributed to many field deaths. As his leg gave out, and Merrik toppled backwards, his bulky suit of armor hissed, sealing off the wounded area and applying a tournacet(sp*) to the leg. Medical stimulants now began to shoot through the wounded marine's body and darkness was hurridly creeping in. Realisation of the wound struck him, and one word escaped his lips before unconciousness took hold.

AC Milan beats Lecce 4-3 after trailing 3-0

MILAN (AP) -Substitute Kevin-Prince Boateng scored a hat trick as a stunning second-half comeback for AC Milan saw the Serie A champions recover from three goals down to beat Lecce 4-3.

Giullermo Giacomazzi headed Lecce in front in the fourth minute, while Massimo Oddo converted a penalty kick and Carlos Grossmuller added a third before halftime.

But Boateng came off the bench for Robinho and grabbed one back for Milan four minutes into the second half.

The Ghana international completed his hat trick within 14 minutes and Mario Yepes grabbed the winner with seven minutes left.

"I would say that our approach to the game was awful," Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri said. "Lecce had a great first half, we were far off, we didn't manage to play and let in two goals from dead ball situations.

"But we had a great reaction and in the end had a great game. At the end we won a game that I didn't think we could turn around at the end of the first half."

The victory lifts Milan into the top half of the Italian league while Lecce remains second from bottom.

"It's really hard to talk about a game in which in the first half you're ahead 3-0 and then, at the final whistle, you lose 4-3," Lecce coach Eusebio Di Francesco said. "After having played so well the first 45 minutes I didn't expect to lose this game.

"It was a Lecce of two faces and it's bewildering for me to have seen that from my team ... After a perfect first half I asked them to keep their focus. Unfortunately they didn't."

Players wore black armbands and observed a minute's silence at the start of every game as a tribute to Italian rider Marco Simoncelli, who died Sunday after a crash at the Malaysian MotoGP motorcycle race.

Udinese took sole leadership of the standings after cruising to a 3-0 win over Novara, thanks to two goals and an assist from Antonio Di Natale.

Di Natale broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute and Maurizio Domizzi doubled Udinese's tally six minutes later when he headed in a corner at the near post.

Di Natale grabbed his sixth of the season four minutes into the second half with a stunning free kick that Novara goalkeeper Alberto Maria Fontana could do nothing about.

Udinese moves a point clear at the top of the table, and is now two points better off than third-placed Juventus, which drew 2-2 at home with Genoa on Saturday.

The visiting side took the lead in the 23rd minute when the unfortunate Robert Acquafresca tried to clear Hernanes' free-kick, but the Bologna striker only succeeded in diverting the ball into his own net.

Bologna had several chances to draw level but could find no way past Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti.

Lazio doubled its advantage three minutes into the second half as Djibril Cisse sent Senad Lulic clear and the Bosnian made no mistake when one on one with Bologna goalkeeper Federico Agliardi.

Cagliari is three points off top spot following its goalless draw with Napoli.

Inter Milan ground out a 1-0 victory at home to Chievo. Thiago Motta headed home Wesley Sneijder's corner to hand Inter only its second win in seven league games.

Roma also secured a narrow 1-0 win and its victory over Palermo moves it into the top half of the table.

Erik Manuel Lamela scored the only goal of the game in the seventh minute and Roma clung on desperately to take all three points.

Roma goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg pulled off several stunning saves, notably from Fabrizio Miccoli in stoppage time, to secure the victory.

Cesena remains rooted to the bottom of the standings after losing 2-0 at Siena.

Pablo Gonzalez scored in the 10th minute and, after Cesena midfielder Antonio Candreva hit the post, Emanuele Calaio doubled Siena's advantage eight minutes into the second half.

Elsewhere, a brace from Maxi Moralez secured Atalanta a 2-1 win at Parma.

All the goals came in the second half, with substitute Jaime Valdes' strike 10 minutes from time proving no more than a consolation for Parma.

Cardinals miss key pitches, signs, phone calls (AP)

ARLINGTON, Texas ? The Cardinals couldn't get any key hits. Then again, they hardly got much right in a World Series game that turned slapstick for St. Louis.

Matt Holliday and Co. went 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position and their average was hardly much better with signs to baserunners and calls to the bullpen.

"It's not good to be down 3-2," Lance Berkman said after a 4-2 loss to the Texas Rangers on Monday night in which the Cardinals were done in by man and machine. "We'd rather be up 3-2, but we feel good."

Albert Pujols apparently called for a hit-and-run with the score 2-all in the seventh inning, then didn't swing as Allen Craig got caught stealing second.

What could have been an inning-ending, double-play grounder by David Murphy bounced off lefty Marc Rzepczynski and rolled toward second for an infield hit that brought up Mike Napoli with the bases loaded. His two-run double in the eighth put the Rangers ahead.

Pujols struck out in the ninth as Napoli threw out Craig trying to steal second again.

"We had chances but didn't come through," Pujols said. "Nothing you can do. Day off tomorrow and get ready to play on Wednesday."

And, it turns out, the Cardinals even botched their calls to the bullpen. Twice.

"It's a really tough loss because we had the opportunity to add the runs where you can make a mistake ... and you still win the game," Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said. "So it's a very disappointing, frustrating loss."

On a night that was more Abbott & Costello than Tinker to Evers to Chance, the game will be remembered for a reach-out-and-touch-someone moment that La Russa would rather forget.

When he went to the mound to relieve Rzepczynski, he was shocked to find Lance Lynn had come in to pitch.

"I went, `Oh, what are you doing here?'" La Russa said.

So much for the email, text-message age. La Russa had called bullpen coach Derek Lilliquist to have Jason Motte start warming up. Lilliquist didn't hear La Russa correctly.

"I thought it was Lynn," Lilliquist said.

Was Napoli supposed to face Rzepczynski or Motte?

La Russa insisted it was Motte. Lilliquist said Rzepczynski would have faced Napoli anyway.

"It must be loud," La Russa said. "I give the fans credit."

When Murphy's grounder bounced away from Rzepczynski, La Russa lifted his blue hat right off his head, in amazement and frustration, arching his eyebrows.

This wasn't what he meant before the game when he said he would tip his cap to the Rangers if they proved to be the better team.

Yadier Molina hit an RBI single in the second and Skip Schumaker followed with a run-scoring groundout against C.J. Wilson as St. Louis built a 2-0 lead for Chris Carpenter.

But the Cardinals stranded 12 runners, leaving the bases loaded in the fifth and seventh.

Wilson pinned a runner at third in the third when Holliday grounded into an inning-ending double play, and the lefty got Holliday to ground out with the bases loaded and two outs in the fifth.

St. Louis left runners at second and third when Scott Feldman struck out Nick Punto to end the sixth. In the seventh, Craig walked with one out and Pujols apparently called for a hit-and-run on an 0-1 pitch.

He didn't swing, and Craig was thrown out.

"It was a mix-up, and that's all I'm going to say," was La Russa's explanation. "On our team, nobody gets thrown under the bus."

Said Pujols: "I don't want to tell you. .. That's secret. I can't tell you how I play my game."

Pujols is 0 for 12 in the Series other than his 5-for-6, three-homer, six-RBI performance in Game 3. He was intentionally walked in the seventh for the third time in the game ? this time with no one on. After a single by Holliday and an intentional walk to Berkman, David Freese flied out on the next pitch.

Then, after Allen Craig was hit by Neftali Feliz's pitch leading off the ninth, Pujols struck out as Craig was caught stealing second again.

When the Series resumes Wednesday night in St. Louis, Jaime Garcia starts for the Cardinals and Colby Lewis for the Rangers. The forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of rain. St. Louis could use some extra time to regroup.

After beating Wilson in last week's opener, Carpenter gave up solo homers to Mitch Moreland in the third and Adrian Beltre in the sixth, starting the Texas comeback. He allowed six hits in seven innings, struck out four and walked two.

It was 2-all when Texas put runners on first and second with one out in the eighth on Michael Young's leadoff double against loser Octavio Dotel and a one-out intentional walk to Nelson Cruz.

Murphy's infield hit off Rzepczynski loaded the bases for the right-handed-hitting Napoli, who drove the ball to the gap in right-center to raise his Series average to .309 with two homers and nine RBIs. The Rangers ran out of the dugout to celebrate.

Would Motte have faced Napoli had he been warmed up?

La Russa said yes, Lilliquist said no.

Rzepczynski wasn't surprised he was left in.

"Not at all, especially with the lefty being on deck. I've done that all year, where if there's a righty in between, I'm going to go out there and get the chance to get the righty out," he said.

Motte wasn't aware of the mix-up until reporters asked in the postgame clubhouse.

"I go out there. The phone rings, and we get going when we're told," he said. "I started throwing when I was told to start throwing."

Lilliquist thought the mix-up didn't make much of a difference, that La Russa wanted Rzepczynski to face Napoli.

"It's basically miscommunication. It was loud. A lot of places are like that," he said. "The phone is as good as any phone."

La Russa said the first time he called the bullpen in the ninth, he wanted two pitchers to get warm.

"They heard Rzepczynski, and they didn't get Motte. I looked up there and Motte wasn't going," he said. "So I called back for Motte, and they got Lynn up."

Rzepczynski struck out Moreland, and once Lynn came in, he intentionally walked Ian Kinsler before Motte finally relieved.

He struck out Elvis Andrus. By then, the damage had been done.

"We have nothing to be worry about," Molina said. "We're going back to St. Louis to win at home."

And perhaps La Russa will find a new method of signaling his bullpen.

"Yeah, smoke signals from the dugout," he said.
